The purpose of selling
Clothesline Pins
is to make money for your agency; so sell them for whatever amount you think
you can get!
There are programs selling the plastic pins for $20.00, imagine what you can
raise from selling the silver-plated pewter pins!!!
Don't have the money to place an initial order? Order the minimum and put
one on display and take orders.
The many ways to use
and sell Clothesline Pins©:
February -
sponsor a V-Day event
V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. V-Day
is a catalyst that promotes creative events to
increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence
organizations. The "V" in V-Day stands for Victory,
Valentine and Vagina. Events are usually planned with a production of The
Vagina Monologues. To learn more visit: www.vday.org/.
April - Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Take Back the Night
Each April rape crisis agencies sponsor activities
to raise awareness about sexual assault at the local and national level.
Plan a Take Back the Night rally and display shirts from The Clothesline Project.
If you do not have a Clothesline in your community,
visit The Clothesline Project website at:
www.clotheslineproject.org.
October -Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Each October domestic violence organizations sponsor activities
to raise awareness about domestic violence at the local and national level.
The activities may include Clothesline Project displays, educational events
or charity shopping days.
For more information on event ideas visit: www.endabuse.org/.
Annual Meetings
Put up a display of pins to sell or present to valued agency volunteers
Education Programs, Women's Health Fairs,
local craft fairs and County Fairs
Remember, the plastic pins will melt if left in the direct sun,
so if you're selling at an outdoor fair or
rally they need to be protected from the sun.
Sell in Your Community
Most of your local establishments will be happy to put a basket of pins on
their counter.
Ask board volunteers to take them around to local banks, bookshops, women's
clothing stores or even grocery stores.
They can each take a section of town and be responsible for collecting the
money every couple of months. Make sure that your agency name
is stamped on the front of the card so it is clear that the proceeds benefit
your services.
Local Publicity
Ask your local newspaper to write an article about your event and mention
to opportunity to buy Clothesline Pins.
Workshop or Support Group mementos
Agency Newsletter and/or Webpage
Self Promotion
Wear a Clothesline Pin and always have a couple in your pocket or purse.
When someone asks about it - and they will - you can explain
the Clothesline Project, your agency's services,
and make a sale. I have sold many pins off of my lapel!
Good Stories:
The
Lighthouse Counseling Center in Montgomery, Alabama put the pins in a display
with a sign that says;
"Do you know what this is? If not, please ask". It's a good way to sell the
pins and to provide education. Good work, Lighthouse!
Dale Shade of the Clothesline
Project of Tampa Bay reports that her auto mechanic, Pat Murray, bought Clothesline
Pins
to give to his customers. Thanks Pat!!
Janyce Boynton, artist and valued
volunteer of Rape Response Services in Bangor Maine, has added Clothesline Pins
to her Etsy site .
The pins are being sold along with Janyce's beautiful quilts. Check it out -
